The above link from The Plain Dealer contains a verbatim excerpt of a public statement released just hours ago from disgruntled Cleveland Brown Josh Cribbs.
Josh: you are making matters worse for yourself. Your agent is doing you no favours. Mangini extended a hand to you after the workout by meeting with you privately, and then you slam the organization publicly? Not smart. There is no foundation for the allegation that contracts generally are one-sided for the benefit of the Browns. That kind of sweeping generalization is unfair. And beware that your statement makes you look terribly greedy, even though you are one of the more humble and sincere players on the Team. Taking your worst-case scenario, you would earn more than six million dollars over 10 years ($620,000.00 minimum per year). If you believe that most doctors and lawyers earn that kind of money over their entire career, then you are dreaming.
Josh Cribbs is a remarkable player. His intensity level on the field is admirable, and his raw talent on special teams is extraordinary. Mangini has declared his intention to expand Josh's role to include 20 or so snaps per game in a cornerback role and possibly some downs in a receiver capacity. Josh may have just blown that. We hope not. We hope that he stays in Cleveland, but not at any cost.
Go Browns!
